Active near field probes

Description
The CTK probes are powerful diagnostic tools that are an ideal complement to conventional EMC test equipment kits. Their high sensitivity and small tip size ensures accurate location of sources and tracks.
The CTK kit comprises two probes, an E field and an H field. Both are self contained compact hand held probes which feature a very small sensing element, high gain amplifier and three outputs....
- RF output for receiver or analyser
- Audio output
- visual (bargraph) output.
The audio and visual outputs have a variable threshold control so that even a slight increase in field can cause a considerable change to the tone and display indication.
The probes have a 'press-to-operate' push button switch so that if they are released, the power is automatically switched off to preserve battery life.
A key characteristic is the flat frequency response. Traditional probes have little sensitivity at the lower end of the spectrum where most fundamentals lie. The flat frequency response of the CTK probes ensures that these lower frequency components are detected equally as strong as the high frequency components.
Two versions are available:
CTK015 Standard probe
CTK019 Probe set intended for QA and QC checks.
The CTK019 is the same as the CTK015 except that it has a spacer on the E field probe to ensure that the probe tip is a repeatible distance from the EUT surface, and the H field probe has a shaped slot to hold the probe against a cable. These help to ensure repeatable results.
Key Points
- Pinpoint exact sources of EMI
- Detect electric and magnetic fields independantly
- Very small size
- Self contained... no need for any supporting equipment
- Audio output... no need to take your eyes off the job
- Non-contact operation... EUT not affected by the probe
- Output to analyser or receiver for frequency analysis
